Happy New Year (FINALLY)!

Welcome, 2021!

Is there anyone out there who isn't incredibly thankful to see 2020 come to an end and a new year begin?

 

We are so grateful to you all for your support over the past nine months, and grateful as well to see a light at the end of the tunnel in the form of effective vaccines. Here's to a year that hopefully lets us all hug our family and friends again soon!

We are now booking into March 2021!

 

If you need to be seen in the first few months of the year, we encourage you to get in touch soon so we can work with your schedule. This is also a great time to use your FSA benefits before they expire!

Note on COVID Pre-Screening for Upcoming Appointments

 

If you have an upcoming appointment and you see that we have called, please be sure to call us back ASAP at 734-677-2156 for your mandatory pre-appointment COVID screening. Many patients miss our call but don't return it; however, if you are not screened prior to arrival, you cannot be seen on the day of your appointment. Thank you for your understanding as we do our best to keep everyone safe!

Holiday Hours

Our office will continue to be closed for the holiday season through January 3rd, 2021. We will reopen on Monday, January 4th.

 

A doctor will be on-call should you have a dental emergency that is causing pain and/or discomfort. Simply call our office and the emergency number will be available on our voicemail for patients of record.

Dr. Sarah is Back!

 

For the many of you who have asked, Dr. Sarah and her family are doing great, and she is back to seeing patients again. If you'd like to make an appointment to see Dr. Sarah, give us a call at 734-677-2156 and we'll do our best to get you on her schedule (Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays beginning 1/4) as soon as we're able.

Driving in the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti area is always an adventure, but even more so once the snow starts to fall. With that in mind, we ask that our patients please plan to arrive at least 10 minutes before scheduled appointments, which allows us to stay on schedule when traffic delays occur due to construction or inclement weather. Thank you for your help!

We are Thankful for YOU!

 

Although this Thanksgiving looked like none we've ever seen (or ever hope to see again, frankly!), we hope everyone in our patient family was able to make the most of it possible, under the circumstances.

As we head into the final months of the year, many people realize they haven't booked their second 6-month checkup. If you need to be seen before the end of the year, please contact us ASAP. Dr. Sarah Baby Update

Dr. Sarah's Maternity Leave

Dr. Sarah will be out on maternity leave beginning the week of September 14th, with a tentative return date of November 30th. Dr. Kotre and Dr. Nickodemus will be happy to see her patients for any restorative care.

 

And yes, we will be eagerly awaiting her new arrival, and wish her all the luck in the world! :)

Dr. Kotre will be out of the office the first week of August (8/3 to 8/7) and will return on Monday, August 10th. 

 

If you have a dental emergency, Dr. Nickodemus and Dr. Sarah will be available to evaluate and/or treat any issues which may arise during that time.

Dr. Sarah's Hours

 

Don't forget that Dr. Sarah is now in the office on Mondays and Tuesdays. She is able to perform procedures from fillings and crowns to root canals. Feel free to schedule with her for all of your regular dental needs by calling the office at 734-677-2156 or contacting us via our website.

Computer Glitches

It is an international day to celebrate the benefits of a healthy mouth and to promote worldwide awareness of the issues around oral health and the importance of oral hygiene to looking after everyone old and young. It may be hard to believe, but February marks the 1-year anniversary of Dr. Nick joining our practice. We are so happy she made the leap!

 

If you haven't yet met Dr. Nick, you can read all about her on our website. Those of you who already see her know that she shares the same philosophy of gentle, conservative dental care that Dr. Kotre does -- it's one of the things that has made her such a great fit for our team!

February is National Children's Dental Health Month

 

National Children's Dental Health Month raises awareness about the importance of oral health to children, adults, and caregivers. Attitudes and habits established at an early age are critical in maintaining good oral health throughout life. 

 

Please be sure to schedule your child’s next routine dental cleaning if you haven't already done so. Remember, we start seeing children at the age of 1, slowing (and gently!) introducing them to the dental hygiene experience. We start with a chair ride and getting them familiar with the environment, doctors, and staff, making it a fun experience for them.

The American Veterinary Medical Association has some tips on keeping pets' teeth healthy, too.

Nardin Park UMC Charity Drive

We are proud to continue this dedication to Nardin Park Community Church and the Community Assistance Program.

 

 

Reminder: Cancelation Policy

 

If you are unable to keep an appointment, we ask that you please contact the office within 24-hours of your scheduled time to cancel and/or reschedule. If we do not receive a notice, a cancellation fee of $35 per hour will be incurred for missed appointments.

 

 

Late Arrivals

 

Please note that if you are more than 10 minutes late for a scheduled half-hour to an hour appointment, your appointment may need to be rescheduled to allow enough time for the treatment to be completed.

Nardin Park UMC Clothing and Toy Drive Still Going Strong

Thank you to everyone who donated to our charity drive for Nardin Park UMC. This year's event has been amazing and the first pick-up happened last month. However, we are still collecting new and gently-used clothing and toys through the end of January, so there is still time to donate if you had planned to do so. In particular, they would greatly appreciate any winter clothing, including coats, hats, scarves and gloves, as well as any other clothing and toy donations.

 

For those who don't know, Nardin Park assists some of the very poorest residents of the City of Detroit all year long, but with a special emphasis on the holiday season. Thank you again to our patient family -- your donations truly make the holiday season much brighter for many Detroit families!

Please Leave Time for Traffic and Weather

As winter rolls on, and construction continues (as it always seems to) straight through into the spring and summer, please consider leaving a few minutes early for your next appointment. Five minutes or so can make a big difference in keeping our schedule running on-time. Thank you for your assistance!

Dr. Sarah's Hours

Starting in February, Dr. Sarah will be adding Tuesday appointments to her schedule from 10 a.m.to 7 p.m. 

 

She is enjoying getting to know our patient family and we are so happy to have her with us!

Insurance Plan Changes

It's the time of year when most of our patients' health insurance plans change. In fact, it's likely that your insurance switched over as of January 1st. If you've had a change in your insurance, at your next appointment, please bring your new card with you and present it at check-in so we can make it part of your patient record.  

 

Additionally, this is the time to make sure you use your FSA benefits! If you had dental work recommended to you in 2019, give us a call to get scheduled to use those FSA dollars before the April deadline at 734-677-2156
