Celebrity Smiles

The Truth Behind Jewel’s Teeth

Singer and songwriter Jewel has become famous for both her songs, and her perfectly imperfect smile. And after almost twenty years in the music business, she’s finally come out and admitted the real reason she’s never had her pearly whites fixed.

“I just don’t like pain,” the 38-year-old admitted to Health. “I never wanted braces.”

In fact, she thinks her teeth may have actually helped her career! “People have always loved my snaggletooth, which is hilarious,” she noted to the magazine. “It should be my logo! I’ve never felt like it didn’t make me sexy.”

Jewel’s teeth even assisted her in getting a part in the Civil War film Ride With the Devil.

“I asked [the director], ‘Why me?’” she told Shape in 2010.”And he said, ‘You have period teeth.’ So I got the job because I was the only actress in Hollywood who hadn’t gotten her teeth fixed!”

Sid the (Toothless) Kid

Pittsburgh Penguins’ captain Sidney Crosby, who took a puck to the mouth last month, has finally debuted his newly-toothless smile in a video interview on PensTV.

Crosby, said “it’s just one of those things that happens” and that he’s “not too worried” about his teeth anyway.

Amazingly, he isn’t even sure how many teeth he actually lost!

“I think down the bottom it’s three of four,” he stated. “The top — I got new tops but I don’t know what’s left of those. I really don’t know what I lost or what is going to be saved.”

Spoken like a true hockey player.

Celebrity Smile Makeovers

What do people like Jennifer Aniston, George Clooney, Katherine Heigl, and Tom Cruise have in common? Well, besides being filthy rich, they have all taken advantage of cosmetic dentistry as well. From whitening to veneers, and everything in between, celebrities tend to place a lot of value on the looks of their chompers and are willing to put in the work (and the cash!).
