Meet Dr. Sarah Shoukr: Ann Arbor Dentist

Dr. Sarah Shoukr, DDS, was welcomed to our Ann Arbor dental practice in September of 2019. "Dr. Sarah" was born in Tucson, AZ while her dad was obtaining his Ph.D. in Engineering. At age three, her family moved back to their home country, Egypt, where she grew up and finished her initial dental education. She decided to move back to the US with her husband in 2010 hoping to build a better, safer life for her little family.

After earning her Bachelor’s degree of Dentistry and Oral Surgery in 2008, she provided dental care to low-income families in Egypt for 2 years. When she moved to the States, Dr. Sarah worked as a dental assistant and as an orthodontic assistant while raising her firstborn daughter and passing the National Board Dental Examinations Part 1 and Part 2.

She earned her DDS degree at the University of Michigan in 2018, ranking in the top 15 students of her class. While completing her clinical work, she also volunteered at the Give Kids A Smile Clinic (treating pediatric patients for free), the Mouth Guard Clinic (creating free mouthguards for sports players), the Taft Clinic (providing preventive and restorative care), and with the Special Olympics (screening special-needs athletes), as well as providing oral health education to kids at a daycare facility.

Dr. Sarah is a Member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Michigan Dental Association (MDA), American Academy of Clear Aligners (AACA), Association of General Dentistry (AGD) and the Washtenaw District Dental Society. She is a lifelong learner and has completed a wide range of continuing education courses that surpass state requirements in order to expand the clinical services she can offer to her patients. Those courses include oral surgery, bone grafting, endodontics and Invisalign.

Dr. Sarah is truly passionate about providing the best quality of care to patients of all ages from patients as young as one year old to great grandmothers, treating each patient as if they were her own family member. She loves having the opportunity to help others achieve the smile of their dreams.

Dr. Sarah and her husband, George, have been married for 13 years and are grateful to live in Ann Arbor with their three daughters: Rebecca (a 4th-grader at St. Francis of Assisi School), Elena (3.5-year-old toddler) and Mikaela (18 months).  She loves spending time with her family, outdoor activities, biking, cooking and traveling.
